Accommodation

Because there is plenty of accommodation close to the Sydney University campus, delegates are free to choose their own place to stay. This page provides an overview of some options, starting with budget-conscious choices and extending into higher price ranges.

Tips for finding accommodation

Location

  • The University of Sydney is located in Darlington, just outside the Sydney CBD. Adjacent suburbs include Glebe, Newtown, Camperdown, Chippendale and Redfern.
  • The University is also easily accessible from accommodation in the Sydney CBD.
  • Redfern train station is a 10 minute walk from the University of Sydney Law School, the venue for AMUNC 2010 committee sessions.
  • There are also frequent buses from the CBD along the two main roads which surround the University, City Road and Parramatta Road. Taxis are also an option.

Resources

  • Searching and booking accommodation on the internet is generally the most cost-effective method, but other ways include booking through a travel agent or accommodation brochures.
  • There are a wide variety of search engines available on the internet. Some of the more popular ones include Expedia and Wotif.
  • When you have a shortlist of possible accommodation options, checking with websites which have reviews from people who have stayed there can be useful. A good example is TripAdvisor.

Things to consider

  • How you will get to the University of Sydney for committee sessions – note the above information on location, and see the NSW Government’s public transport website for more information.
  • Whether there is internet available at a reasonable cost.
  • Whether any meals are included in the price.

Remember - this accommodation guide contains a number of suggestions for where to stay during AMUNC 2010, but it is not an exhaustive list. It is worth doing a search before you book, to obtain current prices and take advantage of any special deals which might be available!
