To do so we have formed a dedicated International Liaison Team just for you, our international visitors! This page will be updated with information and documents which will help you in attending the conference.
If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact the International Liaison Officer, Alfred Lee, via international@amunc.net.
Visas
The AMUNC Secretariat makes no commitments as to the likelihood of success in visa applications. Please note that as per our cancellation policy, there will be no refunds provided due to a failure to obtain a visa. See below for information about the visa application process and what we will do to help you.
Please note that the information provided below should be used as a guide only, highlighting broad legal issues, rights and duties under current Australian law. It is not to be relied on as a substitute for professional legal advice.
Step 1: Get started early
Under Australia's universal visa system, all visitors to Australia must have a valid visa to travel to and enter Australia. The exception to this is New Zealand and Norfolk Island passport holders, who will normally be issued a visa on arrival in Australia unless there are character or health concerns. For more information, see the Australian government fact sheet.
Organising a visa can be a complicated process and hence we urge delegates to attend to this as soon as possible - for those who are able to submit their applications electronically this should be completed at least 2 weeks before travel, while for paper based applications this would be at least 6-8 weeks before.
Step 2: Choose what type of visa you need
There are many visa options available depending on the purpose of your visit. As a general rule of thumb, assuming that you just want to attend AMUNC, delegates who are 18 years and older should apply for a business visa, whereas those under 18 must apply for the tourist visa.
Please read through the associated documentation to determine which visa best fits your circumstances. As part of this, participants under 18 need to provide written evidence of parental consent to visit Australia, and proof that suitable welfare arrangements are in place for their period of stay. This form is available here.

Step 3: Make sure you meet the Australian government's requirements
As part of the visa application process all visa applications are required to meet certain character and health requirements.
Step 4: Register for the conference
Register and pay for the conference through our website. If you can via PayPal (Visa or Mastercard) like other delegates, please do so. If PayPal is not available in your country, please follow the instructions to pay via direct debit.
Step 5: Obtain supporting documents from us to help you obtain a visa
To help you obtain a visa to travel to Australia, the AMUNC 2010 team will provide you with:
- Welcome letter from the Secretary-General and your confirmation of attendance;
- A short outline of the Asia-Pacific Model United Nations Conference 2010
These documents will be provided after you have registered and paid the conference fee.
Step 6: Apply for your visa and notify us of the outcome
Once you have applied for your visa and learnt of the outcome, please tell us so we know whether you're coming to the conference. If you are, we'll find out more about your flights and provide you with further information to make your trip here easier and more comfortable.

We also encourage delegates to apply for personal or delegation sponsorship from their Universities, governments or the corporate sector. To facilitate this we can provide:
